  • Colace Liquid 1% Solution (Purdue Products)

    DESCRIPTION

    Colace® (docusate sodium) is a stool softener product.

    Active Ingredient:    Colace® Liquid 1% Solution. Each mL contains 10 mg of docusate sodium

    Inactive Ingredients:    citric acid, D&C Red No. 33, methylparaben, poloxamer, polyethylene glycol 400, propylene glycol, propylparaben, purified water, sodium citrate, vanillin

    USES

    Relieves occasional constipation (irregularity). Generally produces a bowel movement in 12 to 72 hours.

    WARNINGS

    Do not use if you are presently taking mineral oil, unless told to do so by a doctor. Ask a doctor before use if you have stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or noticed a sudden change in bowel habits that lasts over 2 weeks. Stop use and ask a doctor if you have rectal bleeding or fail to have a bowel movement after use of a laxative. These could be signs of a serious condition. Stop use and ask a doctor if you need to use a laxative for more than 1 week. If pregnant or breast-feeding , ask a health professional before use. Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.

    DOSAGE

    Doses must be given in a 6-8 oz glass of milk or fruit juice, or in infant's formula to prevent throat irritation

    adults and children 12 years
    of age and over
    take 5-15 mL once
    or twice a day
    children 2 to under 12 years
    of age
    take 5-15 mL once
    a day
    children under 2 years
    ask a doctor

    Other information

    sodium content 1 mg/mL VERY LOW SODIUM

    store at 25°C (77°F); excursions permitted between 15°-30°C (59°-86°F).

    Keep tightly closed.
